Owner Spotlight: Josée Lalonde
I’m Josée Lalonde, proud owner of Josée Lalonde Design.
I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.
I have loved design since I was a child. When I relocated to Victoria in 2006, I had been a surgical dental assistant for fifteen years. I had the opportunity to take a course in home staging, and it all evolved from there. I have now been in the home staging and design business for eleven years. I also started a furniture and decor rental business along with my husband, called ‘The HOUSSE’ which has been operating successfully since 2012.
It took us a while to establish ourselves as a household name in the early years. We live in a fairly small city, so the connections made over the years have driven a lot of word-of-mouth referrals. It certainly required a great deal of time and tenacity to get my name out there, but now there is more work than I can possibly do, which is an excellent thing to have!
Just witnessing the business thriving and evolving while staying true to the service being provided, and working to improve that service every day makes it so rewarding.
What I enjoy the most about my work is being able to create something beautiful and functional for our clients. Something that makes them feel good when they walk in, something that captures them, makes them want to stay in the space, not want to leave and enjoy the moments spent there.
At JLD, we believe style is not simply visual, but sensual. Extraordinary interior design - like fashion - not only looks stunning but feels exquisitely comfortable. We work with clients, urging them to be playful, bold, and to choose objects that invite conversation, maybe a second look, or a smile. We create spaces that are both original and functional, but ultimately, intuitively, you. Josée Lalonde Design embodies these core values - collaboration, customer experience, innovation, integrity, responsibility, passion, and fun, to name a few.
I attribute the success of my business to my amazing team! They all play an important role, and I couldn’t do it without them! When we see clients’ reactions of pure excitement, project after project, it constantly inspires me for the next project. It is gratifying moments like these that have pushed us to keep moving forward year after year.
When I am not at work, I attend quite a few concerts/performances, big and small, because I enjoy listening to various genres of music. I also love to dance; salsa dancing is where my heart belongs! But one of my greatest sources of inspiration is traveling the world. It opens up your mind and inspires you greatly.
I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.
